Sometimes you just need a break, right? Students with special needs want breaks, too. Sometimes students with disabilities do not know how to ask for a break, much less specify what they need. Instead, it may be communicated in ways that disadvantage themselves, and upset the teacher (such as behavioral outbursts or by shutting down). By providing a variety of options available in the classroom, teachers can help students to get the sensory stimuli they need to optimize learning. Fidgets and seating options to facilitate movement may help a child to focus during teacher-led instruction. Movable seating options may also help a student with good posture, thus improving alertness and attention. On the other hand, weighted products may calm a student through tactile input.
