"Of the 20 fastest growing careers, 15 of them require a background in math and science." -National Math and Science Initiative. For this reason, I want to expose my students to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities in our classroom. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are what will give my students the tools they need to succeed in jobs that don't yet exist. They need hands on experience with problem solving and critical thinking as well as opportunities to be creative to make them more balanced and well rounded students. By exposing my students to STEM and giving them opportunities to explore STEM-related concepts, they will develop a passion for it and hopefully pursue a job in a STEM field that they may have otherwise considered.
