The library was left out of a remodel several years ago. Why? The answer was "It's obsolete." Many years later the library is still here, but it's small, dark, the books are old, and funding is nonexistent. Students aren't interested in most of what we have to offer. We can't paint the dark, brown walls and there is no room for cozy & comfortable furniture. What's a librarian to do? Makerspace activities and new books MUST be exciting. They must do double duty. By donating to our project, you will allow us to increase student interest in reading through book reveals, engaging book displays and Facebook Fridays. In order to accomplish this goal, we need books that represent our students, books that have characters that look like them, speak to them, encourage them. Reading is a life skill. Reading for pleasure, reading to learn, reading to understand will only happen if KIDS are taught the love of reading early. No time like the present.
