Most picture books today have beautiful pictures, engaging text and amazing photographs. Unfortunately, most of these picture books are above a beginning of first grade student. Having colorful, interesting and bounded leveled books will attract students to read and learn! The readers that are listed from Lakeshore are geared for students at the start of first grade. First graders are excited and enthusiastic to get their hands on books. Although it is a joy to see students look at pictures, create stories from pictures and attempt to sound out words on pages, it would be wonderful to see students able to read entire books with minimal help.
