My students are adjusting to distance learning as best as they can. All families are in very different situations. Being a special education teacher, I am trying my best to continue progress monitoring my kiddos from a screen and it is no easy feat.
Distance learning was something nobody was truly prepared for. I am often trying to record sounds as I am multitasking on my laptop trying to make individualized assignments for my students with IEPs. An iPad would help me with recording read alouds along with progress monitoring students while I am on my computer, I can be tracking progress on an iPad (Rather than having 4 different desktops open and about 22 different tabs).
While the Apple Pencil will help me as I am doing examples for students. It will help me live record as I write so students can see in live time.
But this project would not be funded just for remote distance learning. Next year this iPad will give my classroom of students access to activities and games and will serve as a great source of information and a vital tool for learning. It will also grant student access to apps that only work on iPads. The Apple Pencil will help students practice handwriting and cursive and help me monitor their progress. It will also help students with fine motor or sensory issues help navigate the iPad. This technology will continue to support various students' education for years to come!
