I am a first-year teacher in a small rural area school. These kids are extremely underprivileged but they have the talent; I am ready to help them work until they achieve any goal that they have. The last two teachers that my music students have had completely ruined the music program. No one wanted to sing. The senior high choir was down to 10 and the junior high only had 8 people in it. The elementary students would complain and some even cried because of these teachers. And these teachers have both completely drained the funds that were specifically for music. It's time for a change and a fresh start at our school. We need some help! None of the electronics have had any type of upkeep and are now needing to be replaced. There is only one microphone and no monitors in our stage area. There are no choir uniforms, no fun instruments for the littles to learn rhythms. The projectors and document camera will help the music appreciation classes and elementary studies when we are learning to write music. The boomwhackers will give a fun new way to learn rhythms and play songs. The Music rug is where I'll be teaching the majority of my elementary classes so we can all get together and play together. My kids have done a great job raising money for our field trips this year but they could really use these things to learn. Over the last couple of years, there have been more discipline issues out of music than any other class. I've got the classroom management down and now I want my kids to be proud of the room that they walk into every day to learn. I want it to be an inviting room where they feel safe.
