Take a peek into my classroom now and you will see bookshelves that are sparse and very few comfortable spots to sit. The donations I am asking for will help to brighten my classroom and provide students with comfortable spots to sink in with a good book. Students in fifth grade are required to sustain independent reading for anywhere between 30-40 minutes during their reading block. The rug will help to define the reading area while providing students with a comfortable spot to sit. Bean bag chairs will offer students a comfortable spot to settle in quietly so they can relax and focus on their reading.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more things that you learn, the more places you'll go."
-Dr. Seuss
Crisp, new books with high-interest titles and levels will enhance my readers' minds. The books I selected are books that I see my students immerse themselves in, yet they are on loan to my class from my local library. Having a library stacked with a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts will help my readers to grow their minds.
