I would like to provide students with hands-on learning experiences through the implementation of a makerspace. Integrating a makerspace within the school library, will boost my students' imaginations. While utilizing these “building” toys and sets, students will be developing science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) skills. This hands-on learning opportunity will foster creativity, collaboration, research, and inquiry in all my students. The benefits of having this space in the library media center are that multiple grade levels can take advantage of these materials in various ways. Also, literature and other technology devices in the library will allow students to research the STEAM topics that are the focus of their “building” projects.
