I find myself spending more and more time on the social emotional needs of my students. Being eight it hard. Learning to navigate through disappointment, frustration, failure, compromise, and interpersonal conflict in a classroom where you are one of 26 students often proves exceptionally difficult for this age group. The additional stressors of less than perfect home lives, learning disabilities like ADHD and dyslexia, clinical anxiety, oppositional defiance disorder are often too demanding to then realistically expect them to focus on learning. It is imperative that students have a calming classroom environment where they can regulate their emotions and in turn, be available to learn. The sensory bubble tubes can be found in therapeutic sensory room and will have a calming effect on all of my students. It will allow them to overcome social emotional obstacles and access their best selves.
