Moving into a technology-based society can be difficult with books, paper, and pencil in a math classroom. The tablets that I have requested will be used to set up a math center for students to explore math concepts. I want to give my students options in their learning. If students are having a hard time understanding a concept they will have an additional resource to use through a technology-based platform. Students have the opportunity to not only hear me explain a concept, but they can research other ways that make sense to them. For students who have a firm grasp on the concept being taught, they can use the tablets to dig deeper into what they are learning. This allows them to have something interesting to do instead of another worksheet.
