My goal is to expose my students to the topic of extreme weather to promote a high-interest unit on Reading the Weather, Reading the World! The integration of topics is key in this unit, and supporting students with leveled text sets pertaining to this topic is my goal! Students' learning will also focus on determining main ideas, explaining how key details support the main idea, and integrating information from two texts. My hope is that students will broaden and develop their nonfiction reading skills by participating in interest-based book clubs related to their topics and write or speak about their subjects knowledgeably.
