I am the School Counselor and one of my goals each year is to help our eighth graders make a connection between the importance of academics and the real world. Making this distinction is very difficult for many students. The reason for this lack of knowledge is simply lack of exposure. We have a career program called KUDER, that is designed to introduce students to different career options using computerized assessments. This program assists students in connecting academics to career interests. It is most effective if students are able to utilize iPads to complete assessments, watch videos of careers in action, learn the education needed for particular jobs, and which schools and businesses offer education and training.
