We have an advisory structure at our school that helps build a college-going identity for our students. Each advisor is responsible for monitoring students' attendance, behavior, and grades over the course of their time at our school. One thing that helps build unity amongst an advisory is a common piece of apparel. Students are allowed to wear advisory apparel to school. As the weather gets cooler, I want my students to have a piece of outwear to stay warm and represent their advisory and recognize them for meeting their goals. In advisory this quarter, I am working with my girls to set SMART goals as they start approaching the college application process. Each student has a different set of goals they are trying to reach. Some students' goals are having more consistent attendance at school while other students' goals are around developing coping mechanisms when they are struggling with the content in their classes. Each student will be presenting their goals to the rest of the group so that they can hold each other accountable and support each other in the process. Once a student has met 2 of their 3 goals for the quarter, they will earn a jacket.
