In our classroom, we use Reader's Workshop to engage students in a love of books and to help teach the strategies a life-long reader uses. Through this project, students will be surprised with their own copy of The Three Billy Goats Gruff to practice their skills of retelling old favorite storybooks. Students will first begin by retelling just using the illustrations, then begin to look at the words and inquire what the words might say. They will use the books first as an addition to their school book bin materials, but then will get to take the book home to continue their love of reading at home!
