I am requesting a variety of different supplies in this grant. All of the supplies have specific purposes for improving reading comprehension and writing skills. The sticky notes will be used to annotate and take notes while reading from our textbook looking closely at the text. This will reduce the amount of paper being used for student copies of texts, and it gives students the opportunity to easily move and share their ideas. The sticky notes will also be used to provide and receive peer feedback for their writing. The highlighters will be a helpful tool for students to show understanding, increase student engagement, and develop organizational skills. They will allow the students to color code the elements of writing while reading challenging texts or while students analyze their own writing. Color coding helps the students practice and demonstrate their understanding of various topics. The Elmer's glue and glue daubers will be used for our interactive notebooks. In my classroom, we take notes with graphic organizers and foldables, which are then glued into notebooks that students refer to while completing assignments. This is a fun way to change note taking and make it more exciting! Other random supplies include markers, pencils, and anchor chart paper. These will be used when students collaborate in groups and create graphic displays that link to the learning intentions and priority standards.
