My students are at a Title I school. We are located in a low-income area, and a majority of students do not come from backgrounds that are safe, healthy learning environments or full of structure. On October 10, 2018, we experienced a life-changing storm (Hurricane Michael), and the students who already didn't have much, lost everything. I teach the advanced kids who love to read. I provided some books for my classroom library, and they ate them up and are hungry for more. My classroom library is their main access to new books, and I want to provide them with more books. I had the students write down a book series, or books, they would love to see in the classroom library, and I want to surprise them, come the anniversary of the worst event we all went through, with a new classroom library, ready for them to devour.
