My students will love using the Leap Frog LeapReader System in the classroom during independent reading time. During Independent work time, I meet with small differentiated groups of students in guided reading sessions. During this time I focus on targeted reading levels and strategies to help each student's reading needs. While I'm with a small group, the other students are busy reading or listening to stories at their own levels. Every student is encourage to read and practice phonics skills in reading centers using the classroom library and e-programs such as Reading Amplify. It is unfortunate that at this time many of my students were greatly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and were not able to learn basic foundational phonics during this time. Many had internet issues or were unable to focus via distance learning platforms. Because of this, many of my students are reading at Kinder and Pre-k levels. It is for this reason that I believe that students will benefit from a simple device that can delight and entertain them while learning phonics and building their literacy foundational skills all at the same time! My students will be able to be independent while I focus on smaller groups so that everyone has access to direct instruction while others practice independently.
