My students recite our motto "we work hard, and then play hard." When focusing on behavior, we celebrate them completing 14 days of good behavior with a mini class celebration, and they get a prize from my treasure box. This allows them to cash in on their good choices, and also those that had challenges to work on, and worked through them. Each child has their own points of focus, but all of them work towards becoming the best student they can, including behavior that leads to a more focused and productive student. The carrot I dangle is usually that push they need, to get over the hump.
