The items listed in this project are required for one of the labs planned for this semester. In this lab, students will investigate and determine the empirical formula for magnesium oxide experimentally.
To determine the empirical formula of magnesium oxide, magnesium metal must be heated intensely in air until it ignites. This chemical reaction must take place in a ceramic crucible with cover. Before and after the reaction, the weight of chemicals must be measured accurately.
Our science labs are not well equipped, and funding is very limited. Without proper equipment, my students won't be able to conduct this necessary lab.
