Every year right before Winter/Christmas break I have a big Pajama party for my students. I invite all of their families to join us for an exciting event with stations set up throughout the cafeteria. These stations include cookie decorating, ornament making, cotton candy making, necklace making, lotion making, and storytelling. Best of all, the children have a brand new warm pair of jammies, a few books to snuggle up with over their vacation time and memories made with family and friends. I have taught my students how to use their imagination and create a story through the pictures in their books. Therefore, if they do not have an adult to read to them at home, they can experience their books independently. However, I strongly urge each family to take 20 minutes per day to read to their child. It promotes language development, broadens their imagination, as books can take you anywhere.
