Scientists who write out their thoughts are much more likely to think through difficult problems and start using science vocabulary. Academic Language like that used in Science can be a bridge for our English Language Learners to make connections to the academic language used in other subjects as well. By giving students the opportunity to write questions and answers to their investigations, I hope to use their curiosity to drive them to write more helping it to improve as a byproduct. I hope to give every 4th and 5th-grade student a notebook to be able to journal about their classroom discoveries. May they be empowered to always keep wondering and asking questions. In addition to the notebooks, there are a few other tools included such as pencils, clipboards and file folders that will be a great help for myself and my students within my classroom. May we help give confidence to the future scientists of this world.
