As of right now, technology is limited in my English language arts classroom. While some students have access to personal smartphones, others do not. I currently have a couple of Chromebooks available for student use throughout the day, but we are often left short on technology when working on various projects. Most of what we do in language arts is related to one-to-one reading with tangible reading materials in order to dissect the text and truly understand content and author's purpose, but there are so many more ways students can interact with a text or topic when technology is introduced. Additional Chromebooks would allow more students access to programs like Quizlet, Google Classroom, CommonLit, and Khan Academy—programs that not only provide practice and knowledge, but allow students to connect their learning to real-world information.
