These Spanish language readers will help my students improve their Spanish language acquisition skills through reading. These books have current cultural and historical connections to our curriculum and Spanish speaking culture. For example, La Guerra Sucia is about the political climate in Argentina so as students read it they will learn about historical and political situations from Latinoamerica. Reading about current events in Spanish improves their understanding of language and culture. As the books are written by native Spanish language speakers the tone is more conversational than formal, a difficult difference to practice otherwise. The reading skills practiced with these books will help prepare my students for an Advanced Spanish Course.
