Building my students' stamina in reading and writing is very critical to their language acquisition. My students come from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds and developing their reading and writing skills will help build the stamina they need to succeed. With these new reading and writing materials, my students can have access to relevant literacy skills needed to foster their acquisition of the English language and overall academic growth. The whisper phones, for example, will allow me to hear how well my students are reading so I can monitor their fluency. These phones will also help my students who are struggling with understanding the difference between similar sounds and those who have difficulty blending two sounds together. Overall, whispering may provide a safe space for kids who feel anxious about reading out loud. I love seeing the "aha" moments in the eyes of my students when they finally get a reading and writing concept using materials that help enhance their understanding. It is truly a honor to be their teacher!
