Whiteboards will allow my students to practice spelling out words, making the connection between letter sounds and written text. Whiteboards are fun for students since they get to write in color, wipe off, and try again. Students get to model the teacher work and then try it independently. The Students get to model what's on the board then try the work independently. The word building puzzles are helpful for beginning readers to make connections as they turn sounds into words. Additionally, as beginning readers, students need lots of books to practice sounding out words. After guided practice, students read independently, in small groups, or to the teacher. A large part of my classroom dynamic is making learning fun. Whether its through quick quizzes where kids get to come to the board and show off their skills, or organized games, like BINGO, students who have fun learning want to come back and do it again.
