As a class, the Art of Film Making has for the past three years taught students how to express themselves through visual representation and storytelling. While some of the most creative ideas have come from overcoming the lack of funding for the class, students have become much more interested in filmmaking, and we would love to offer them better resources to learn and explore the craft. With only a VHS-C camera from 1997, our students have struggled to fully grasp what it's like to truly make a film. With this equipment, students will create and excel at visual storytelling and submit their projects to students film festivals for the world to see! As a passionate educator, I have previously used my own materials and funds to provide props and equipment to provide my students with an education on the visual arts that they truly appreciate and deserve. Having an additional degree in Filmmaking, I hope my personal professional background helps offer students the ability to learn about careers in screenwriting, directing, lighting, editing, steady cam/camera operating, and acting. With your help, my students will be able to concentrate on the stories they wish to tell and not on the lack of funding for the class.
