In our class, we will use poster paper during group work projects and gallery walks so that our students have the chance to demonstrate their learning about history. Research shows that heterogeneous group work allows everyone an opportunity to learn and grow. For that reason, in each of our units there is a group work project that allows students to work together to answer a central historical question. I especially love that this poster paper sticks to any surface because we can immediately hang them up around the classroom and share our collective knowledge. In the past, we have used poster paper to share about content related material such as the fall of the Aztec Empire and the Farm Workers Movement. However, poster paper also allows us to build necessary historical thinking skills such as sourcing, corroboration, and contextualization.
