As a first year teacher, I would like to create a classroom library full of diverse books for my students. I would like to include new books so students will buy into reading. Some students are reluctant readers; others love to read. I would like to create a diverse collection so every student can find a book they connect with. These books will bring excitement and interest. For example, "Shout" is one such book. Our school librarian has chosen this book as a good read, so kids will want to check it out. If you haven't read this book, you should. Students need to see themselves in the books I have; they directly feel accepted and validated.
