My co-teacher and I are planning on creating a English/Science class where students will apply standards based skills to create large cardboard boats. The students will do instructional writing, observational notes, buoyancy activities, and physics techniques while working on leadership and teambuilding. The students will break into 3 groups to complete these tasks and it will end with the students getting into the boats and paddling them across a pool. I love that my students are high energy, and come to life when they engage in any activity that sparks their interest. Our students are highly social and need to be moving and interacting to attain academic content.
