Providing my students with additional literary selections besides what is in the standard curriculum, is extremely beneficial for their education. I want to provide an extensive classroom library for my students. They will be able to browse through staple classics as well as modern classics and select titles that peak their interest. When a child is interested in the subject matter of a novel, they tend to retain more information. This aids in the development of strong comprehension and character analysis skills. Classical literature allows a student a window to the past and teaches life lessons. Modern classics expose students to more contemporary issues they may or may not be familiar with. These novels are practically imperative for the basis of their literary education. Even pop culture makes reference to these particular novels I have chosen. It is always favorable to expose children to various types of literature.
