While mathematics is a tough subject for a lot of students within my school community, I try to make the lessons as engaging as possible within my classroom. In Geometry, students are constantly challenged to explore the use of Geometry outside of the classroom. Students take Geometry walks as well as build clinometers to approximate the height of buildings such as The Capitol, Washington Monument, and even our school building.
Having technology such as iPads in the classroom will allow students to use the technology outside of the classroom to aide in students growth and understanding while solving problems.
Approximately 60% of my students have disabilities; having another source of support will allow for differentiated learning with the use of technology to help close learning gaps. My students learn best when they are able to see the math in different ways from using Flipped Classrooms with YouTube, Khan Academy, IXL, and our newest support, Edmentum. Students will now have a source to complete work in a diverse way. I am asking for your help to aide in the growth, development, and success of my students as we show resilience in every lesson we complete.
