Help me give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably in class. Sitting for seven periods is not conducive to learning. As a teacher, I have a hard time sitting and I know it must be torture on my kiddos. I want them to have the ability to sit, stand, or lay down in class. Allowing for free choice of where to sit and how to sit is valuable to students who are at an age where they are told what to do all day. Flexible seating can stimulate a student’s sense of touch and this can allow students to concentrate on their learning instead of how uncomfortable they are. Sensory input is very important for those students with Autism, ADD, and ADHD.
