I chose some diverse tools for this project because we have diverse needs right now in the classroom! We have needs related to time management, aesthetic design, and instructional activities that can be met in part by your generous donation to this project. Because first graders are still learning how to tell time on the analog clocks used in elementary classrooms, we need visual timers that can be set for group or individuals so students can manage their time on assignments and transition more readily to the next activity. For the instructional activities addressed in this project, students love hands on tools like dice they can use when playing math games and "roll and write" activities in literacy. On the walls of our classroom, I hope to hang vocabulary words, anchor charts, classroom expectations and student work so students can see their progress and utilize resources around the room. The way the 1st grade wing of our school was built, each classroom shares a wall that can be removed to create a shared learning space. The wall between my class and my co-teacher's class is closed, and it is made of a very durable material--regular staples just bounce right off! I am hoping a new heavy-duty stapler will help me hang the materials needed for my classroom.
