Filmmaking students need headsets on a regular basis to edit their films. In addition, we have a special need for headsets with microphones to use during ISATs. During this time students in my filmmaking classes cannot leave the classroom to film around the school like they can the rest of the year. This helps keep a quiet school environment for testing, but that makes it difficult to get any filming done with up to 33 students in a single classroom. This means that we have to get a little creative in designing filming projects that we can complete entirely in the classroom. So, during ISATs, students will create a digital animation. They will utilize the same process for writing a treatment, script, and storyboard that they would for a regular filming production, but they will create an animation screencast of their script, instead of acting it out in person. Then, students will use the microphone headsets to capture their voices and add audio to their animation. Without the noise canceling, microphone headsets, recording all of the audio for the group animations would not be possible. So, funding this request would benefit my students continue to develop their filmmaking skills during ISATs and the rest of the year.
