My students are high school students. They attend a school in Illinois. They are a fun group who love to hug and read. Most of them come from low income homes who can't afford the "extras." They realize they don't learn as fast, or differently, as their same aged peers. This is frustrating and embarrassing for them. As fun as I try to make my classroom, I know it hurts them when they can't read, write, or solve math problems like their friends.
