My proposal for a book club with the book Reaching and Teaching Children exposed to Trauma will provide Professional Development for my teachers. It will enrich their knowledge of what it means to be exposed to trauma as well as how to work with their diverse population- Many have been exposed to trauma. After reading this book, teachers will be able to assess the needs of their students quicker and will be able to recognize signs of trauma earlier. Teachers will read his book and discuss strategic questions on a weekly basis. I will monitor, create, and facilitate all discussions every week.
