The students at my school find themselves running to the hallway or another space to escape the challenges of learning or escape a sensory overwhelming environment. There are limited spaces within the school that lend themselves to allowing students to calm and regulate selves in order to return to class. With the items selected a small room will be full of sensory friendly items that will allow students to find the time and strategies needed to return to a ready to learn state. They will find the bean bag chair to be relaxing, along with a weighted lap pad to provide deep pressure, and the option to participate in tactile or visually calming sensory activities.
