Adding big books to our classrooms will greatly enhance the literacy program. The big books will allow children to notice various aspects of print such as: -Distinguishing between print and pictures -Reading from left to right, top to bottom - Words are made up of letters -Letter and letter sound recognition -Voice to word match Using big books will also allow children to practice phonemic awareness skills, decoding skills, improve vocabulary and compression skills. We would like to purchase big books that support each study topic. Big books are an fun way to motivate children to want to read and enjoy read-alouds.
