My classroom is designed with independent learning in mind. I have recently researched multi-age learners in classrooms and choice-based work stations similar to the practice of Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB), a nationally recognized choice-based art education approach to teaching art. In the process of converting my classes to this approach, I am adding stations that require additional tools and supplies. With your help, students are excited to discover the art of jewelry making as a new medium in our art room. Beginner jewelry makers will start with metal stamped charms and later advance to beading and other jewelry styles. They look forward to participating in art nights where families make charms together and sharing their wares with community members. For example, one student suggested a charm that says "thank you" for the upcoming Veteran's Day ceremony. All 900+ students in this school will benefit from these additional supplies in the art environment. We look forward to creating jewelry that will charm the heARTs of many people within our school community.
