I am starting a book club for 3rd grade students in my school to help foster a love of reading. Many of our students are struggling with decoding and fluency and do not read books for enjoyment because they view it as something too hard to do. They are embarrassed to walk around with books that are easy for them to read because they are viewed as baby books by the older students. I am hoping to use this book club as an opportunity to allow my students to successfully read/listen to grade level material and learn that when they read there is no limit to what they can explore.
