As a 4th grade teacher at East Side School, I am taking our new literacy curriculum adoption to the next level. My goal is to incorporate technology into the classroom utilizing laptops, to provide students with additional support to increase their reading comprehension. Utilizing our Reach for Reading Curriculum, these laptops will be used for small group work where students will learn research skills, report writing, practice vocabulary/spelling, build on grammar skills, and grow as fluent readers.
These laptops will support what we are learning in the classroom and create student success.
Not only will students learn to be responsible digital citizens, but they will also become comfortable and fluent with technology. My fourth graders love technology and being able to incorporate these into the classroom will boost their excitement to learn.
Many of my students are not able to access the technology components at home, so being able to provide this opportunity in the classroom will help their literacy skills grow along with their confidence!
