An alarming amount of my students come to school hungry on many days. Despite public perception, high school students can be shy about voicing their needs because they don't want to call attention to themselves. They sit in the back of the class with heads down and stomachs grumbling. Having snacks available in designated areas of the building will allow students to get food and eat so they can participate in their own learning. In New Hampshire, 1 in 10 people are food insecure. Students can not learn to their potential if they are hungry. Snacks will provide energy for students so they can reach their potential.
