Incorporating books into lessons is a great way to help students make a connection to the skills being taught. Our campus library has limited resources which makes it difficult to supply each student with a book during class. A class set of books will help create a classroom culture that will encourage all students to take an active role in their learning. This novel The Outsiders will be used in class to emphasize the elements of plot and to monitor students' comprehension of the text. With a class set, students will be able to reread the sections that they do not understand so that they can contribute in the class discussions.
