The supplies that I'm requesting for my classroom will go a long way in helping our students with disabilities such as autism or ADHD achieve the best learning experience possible. Not all disabilities are the same, so having a variety of tools and strategies to help each child is incredible. Our classroom serves students with varying disabilities- most of whom are especially sensitive to the noise and movement of everyday life. Simple things like group games can often become distressing to these children, causing an overwhelming feeling of anxiety that leads to negative or harmful behaviors. By using tools such as noise-cancelling head phones and fidgets, we are able to better serve this population in a way that works for them. Flexible seating options- such as the reading bench we've requested- are also really beneficial for most special education students. Most importantly, these are classroom technologies that will not only positively impact this years group of students, but everything that has been requested here will be re-used for all of the students who are to come through our classroom in the years ahead.
