My project focuses on career and college readiness. My students fall into two tracks for graduation: Jumpstart (workforce) and Core Four (college bound). The project’s goal is for students to increase knowledge in workforce/college readiness to meet societal and work place demands. Students will use an online curriculum to better prepare Jumpstart and Core Four students with the skills required in a workforce that is swiftly morphing due to advances in technology. It is my obligation to my students to respond to public change and occupational needs. This project aims to prepare students for whatever journey they choose. Students will use computers as centers to access a college and career readiness curriculum which is standards aligned in Information Technology (navigate web for reliable websites and computer basics, etc.) ELA (creating resumes, cover letters, etc.), College and Career Readiness (researching careers and finding colleges, etc.), Financial Literacy (how to fill a FASFA and evaluate wages, etc.), and Career Technical (career research and goal setting, etc.). The curriculum is aligned to the Individuals with Disabilities Act and the Every Student Succeeds Act which will be most beneficial to my special needs students. Today there is an increasing need for a better-knowledgeable and highly skilled workforce. Students will work in centers at least thirty minutes each day. I will use the projector for whole group instruction as needed. For my students to be college and workforce ready, students must graduate with the knowledge, skills, and temperaments essential to succeed in their chosen path. This curriculum, combined with computers for centers for individual learning and projector for group instruction, my students will be better prepared to reach individual success in the workforce or in college
