Summertime is a time for sunshine, fun, and play. Unfortunately, it is also a time when students are at risk of falling behind academically. The risk is even higher now because of COVID-19. Even more because a majority of my Pre-K 4 students are low-income students who do not have the same access to the resources and materials necessary to maintain their learning as their higher-income peers. Funding this project will allow all of my students to be fully prepared for Kindergarten. It will provide them with math manipulatives, which they will be able continue to use at home if distance learning is required in the fall. It will provide them tools to encourage their writing and creativity. For my students who need the most support with learning their letters, it will allow them to see and write letters with the write and wipe letter cards. Students learn best through experience and play. These materials will provide them this opportunity and effectively prepare them for Kindergarten, even if they have to be at home over the summer.
