I always strive to incorporate my students' backgrounds and cultures in authentic ways in the classroom. With these books, my students will see themselves represented in a broad spectrum of ways. In doing so, it is my hope to instill confidence and joy in each of my students. With access to diverse literature by diverse authors, my students will be inspired to learn about and celebrate diversity, while also developing a appreciation of their own unique backgrounds. I plan to incorporate these resources in our SEL learning, use them to begin conversations about race, diversity, and social justice, and allow students to explore them as they develop a love of learning and literature while learning more about their world and those around them.
