The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in a Special Education Resource room which supports students in English, math, social studies, and science. Most of the students are visual learners and more likely to follow a routine when it comes to addressing their academic needs. Denver Publix Schools started with online classes and it has been difficult for students without a board where they actually see written notes and follow through the steps and process needed during make up class and extended time. With the use of an iPad and Apple Pencil, the students can interactively see and follow steps during online discussion. The iPad and its functions also have the ability to save and send the actual notes done during discussions to students for review and reference. The use of the devices will make the transition better for the SPED students to be engaged as we give instruction and it provides them the opportunity to learn and engage remotely. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to focus on the academic instruction material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. Plus, in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn during remote learning.
