Hands-on learning is more effective, and is a great opportunity to create meaningful learning opportunities. The Allowance Game helps with number sense and money computation that will be necessary in life. STEM kits can provide enrichment for students, useful for independent and small group work time while I reteach concepts to other students. My students cover a wide range of ability levels, and I want to provide more than just worksheets for students who are at or above grade level. I notice that students are motivated to finish lessons and master standards so they can participate in Early Finisher activities. Magnets, money, and marbles have been the most popular so far, and I would like to provide new activities as my currents ones become not as exciting.
