Our 5th grade uses a block schedule. I teach two different classes of math and science every day. We reach the students in many different ways each and every day, but students love technology.
Our goal is to prepare students for a digital world. Most of our students are below grade level, but they are catching on quickly and experiencing success through technology. We have many computer programs to help students achieve academic success. These programs allow students to work at a comfortable pace.
Students utilize technology throughout the day. Students are able to work at their own pace to learn math facts, math skills, take tests, introduce vocabulary and to enhance our science curriculum. Headphones will make a world of difference to our students because they will be able to clearly hear the digital lesson. Students are not supplied with headphones at school. It is part of their supply list, but most students do not bring any headphones. The headphones will stay in our classroom, so there will never be a day that students will not have access to them.
